Brandon and Carrie
Dear
Birthparent(s),
We first want to thank you for taking the time to learn more about us. We understand that this must be a very difficult time for you—filled with many emotions. We want you to know that we think that what you are doing is one of the most noble and honorable acts that anyone can do. Even though we do not know you yet, we are praying for you and for your unborn baby. We think that adoption is such a special gift, and really something that God had planned all along, since God’s hope for us is that we all be adopted into His family, the family of Christ. We are actually pretty familiar with adoption, since Brandon was adopted by his dad. His mom is his biological mom, but who we call “Dad” adopted him when he was a toddler when he married his mom. Brandon’s biological father is still a part of our life, and will be considered a “third grandpa” to our child.
We met our first year of college and became great friends. During our sophomore year of college, we started dating and were engaged a year later. Knowing we were meant to be together, we were married in 2002. We consider marriage to be a sacred covenant before God. By putting God as the center of our marriage, we feel that our marriage is very strong, and we are so thankful for that. We are confident that we will be bringing a child into a very healthy, happy marriage.
We are extremely close with our families and have family gatherings as much as possible. Along with Carrie’s parents, she has one younger brother, who we are very close to, and try to see as much as we can. Carrie also has a grandma, aunts, uncles, and cousins, who we see several times a year. Along with Brandon’s parents, he has three brothers. They are married and have kids, so there are four cousins in the family already. They are waiting with open arms to welcome a new baby cousin into the family.
Education has always been important to both of us. Carrie has a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering and an Associate Degree in Nursing. She currently works as a nurse at a hospital. Brandon has a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. He teaches math at a high school.
We live in a safe, peaceful neighborhood in a moderate
sized city that is child friendly, close to many parks
and good schools. Our town has a small town feel, but
yet it has all of the big city amenities like the zoo,
shows, museums, etc. We have two cats named Button
and Shadow who are just waiting to have a baby brother
or sister. They are very sweet cats—they love to be
around people. We were both raised with pets, so we
feel that it’s very important for our child to have
animals around.
Since traveling was a big part of our lives growing up, we have carried on that tradition. We try to go on one big trip every summer. Some of our favorite spots have been New York City, Europe, the Caribbean, and Alaska. Our summers are also filled with going tent camping in one of the many beautiful state parks. We also like to play tennis, cook, go biking, hiking, and go to movies. When we get together with family and friends, we love to play group games. We also like doing home improvement projects.
Our faith in Jesus Christ is very important to us. We are involved in a non-denominational Christian church. Brandon is an usher at our church and we lead a Bible study. We also are involved in a Friendship Families program through one of the colleges in our area where we “adopt” students who are studying here from foreign countries. Our most recent students were from Japan.
We have each had the desire in our hearts as long as we can remember to be parents. If you choose us and give us the honor of raising your child, he or she will know from the very beginning about you. We want them to know of the wonderful, heroic deed that you did. We will make sure that aspect of his or her beginning will be woven into their life. And please know that we will love that child as if it were our own flesh and blood, and we will cherish everyday and not take one day for granted, since we know what a precious gift it is for us to have him or her.
We care for you and your baby very much and we know that God will lead you to the right couple for your baby.
Thank you, Brandon and Carrie
